Go Visit the Shooting Range
I don’t know about you, but MY very Texan father loves going to the shooting range. He doesn’t do it often, but when he does he considers it a treat. Do something different and take your dad to the range with you! As far as Fathers Day activities goes, this is one he will love.
While I wish I could provide recommendations of where to go, I have absolutely no idea. This Texan has only been shooting once, and it was in Seattle!
Go Fishing On the Lake
Spend the day in the sun and out in the lake with your dad! A fishing trip is probably just what the doctor ordered for Father’s Day activities. Check out some of these lakes near you for a fishing day:
Dallas: Check out Lake Grapevine, Lake Ray Hubbard (my dads fav), or White Rock Lake
Austin: Check out Quarry Lake, the Barton Creek Greenbelt, or really anywhere on Town Lake
Houston: Check out Lake Anahauc, McGovern Lake, or Mary Jo Peckham Park

Visit His Favorite Local Museums
If my dad had his way, he would spend all day every day in different history museums. So on Fathers Day, we usually let him drag us to his favorites and we pretend to listen and pay attention!

Austin: Check out the Texas State History Museum, LBJ Center, Blanton Museum, or Harry Ransom Center
