Haymaker Austin

East Austin off Manor & 35

Haymaker is hands down my go-to sports bar in Austin for any game, and I doubt that will ever change. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, the patio is dog friendly, the screens are everywhere, and the deals are killer. When it isn’t packed, you can hit up their pool tables or outdoor bags area. Also they have food!!!!

Home Teams: Detroit Loins, Chelsea, USMNT, and the USWNT

Deals: Daily specials that last all day, plus $3 pints/$12 pitchers of Native Texan during football season!

Star Bar

Downtown Austin off West 6th St.

Ever since I started dating a die-hard Packers fan, this has become a Sunday go-to bar. Star Bar is known for being a Midwestern haven, and it’s the best spot to watch any Midwestern team. They’ve got free popcorn, indoor and outdoor seating, and plenty of tables on the patio. It is dog-friendly on the patio, but the indoor area has limited seating and is mostly standing room.

Home Teams: Mostly the Packers, but great for any Midwest team. Also they’re the official Hockey NHL bar for Austin

Deals: They have plenty of game day specials, and have $3 Miller Lites / Miller Buckets available during Packers games

Skinny’s Off the Track Sports Bar

This one popped up in 2022 and was IMMEDIATELY a favorite! They’re midwestern themed and according to my Midwest Friends, perfectly on brand. They have a large interior with tons of TVs, and then pair that with their HUGE outdoor patio featuring large screens so you can see from every angle!

Since they’re Midwest themed they tend to focus on Midwest teams above most others! Also, their happy hour is solid on Mon, Wed-Fri from 4-6pm with $3 Wells, $3 Tall Boys, and $5 Specialty Cocktails

Scholtz Garden

Near Campus off San Jac & 16th

Scholtz Garden is a giant beer garden near the UT Campus known for being the ultimate Longhorns bar! They have a giant outdoor beer garden that is dog friendly, and plenty of beers on tap.

Home Teams: The University of Texas, and also pretty much any EPL team you can think of will be shown here

Deals: They usually have specific deals going on during games, but don’t often post them so it’s a go and find out the situation!

Little Woodrows

Off Burnet, Downtown West Sixth, South Park, Tech Ridge Area, and Parmer

Firstly, there are really five locations of Little Woodrows so there is likely one near you! Plenty of TVs available and they usually have beer specials / beer bucket specials going on during big games. They’re always full of other sports fans, and you can usually ask them to switch to whatever game you want if it’s not packed at your location.

Also the Downtown location has the One Taco truck which I argue has some of the best tacos in Austin!

Home Teams: Seattle Seahawks for all locations, UW Huskies are the location off W. Sixth, and the St. Louis Cardinals at Tech Ridge

Deals: They do have daily deal specials at each location depending on the game

Shop My UT Favorites

The Tavern

Near Downtown off W. 12th St.

Oy vey this has so many TVs. They have an upstairs and a downstairs so you have plenty of room to sprawl out. They also serve food if you’re wanting something to eat while you watch! I use to always drive by and laugh at the “Air Conditioned” sign because…ya know…Texas.

Home Teams: Kansas City Chiefs, Arsenal EPL, and the Falcons (sometimes)

Deals: Plenty of daily deals going on during these games, and just in general

Buckets Sports Bar

East Austin off MLK and Pleasant Valley

Buckets is honestly the most low-key sports bar, the style my dad would absolutely love. There are literally no frills and it’s essentially a dive bar with TVs. Totally recommend if you just want something easy and don’t want insane crowds of people are you!

Deals: Weekdays have $7 slices of pizza + beer pairings

BD Rileys Pub

Mueller Park Area & Downtown

The ultimate Austin Irish bar of all these Austin sports bars. You have no shortage of TVs available, everyone is drinking a giant pitchers of beer, and also FOOD is available! Their locations aren’t huge and don’t have a ton of space, but close quarters makes for a fun environment for sure. They’re actually my go-to when I want to be drinking a mimosa during a morning game!

Home Teams: New England Patriots & Notre Dame (plus they almost always have EPL games on)

Deals: $4 select drafts on game days

Billys on Burnet

North Austin off Burnet

Your neighborhood burger joint that doubles as a sports bar and always turns up for Packer games especially! It’s definitely not “family friendly” but more so is than any other spot on this list. So if you want your kids to hang out while you watch the game, this is a great spot to make that happen!

If you’re wondering why I have no photo for them, it’s because every one of them is bad. That’s just the vibe of the spot. If you get it, you get it.

Corner Bar

South Lamar

Corner Bar is another favorite of ours to catch the Packer games! Especially because on Sundays you get free BBQ when you order at least $15 worth of drinks (which for a football game is VERY easy to do).

Home Teams: They honestly show EVERYTHING and I don’t think they have a home team!

Deals: Sundays are FREE BBQ when you order $15+ worth of drinks

Black Sheep Lodge

Located off South Lamar

Black Sheep reminds me a lot of Haymaker (probably because they have the same owner idk), I just don’t go as much because Haymaker is closer to where I live! But Black Sheep has an outdoor dog-friendly patio, daily drink specials, and plenty of TVs for game watching. Definitely a more chill vibe than any of the Downtown Austin sports bars, but also a smaller location, and parking is horrible. Also, they do have burgers available for food!

Home Teams: They’re home to OK State and ManU!

Deals: They run daily drink specials! Saturdays are $4 beers and wells, Sundays are $2 off pitchers + $3 bloodies AND this year they’re doing $5.50 Meanwhile Beers Sunday to Monday!! Live for that.

Lavaca Street Bar

Three Locations: Off Lavaca Downtown, South Lamar, and at The Domain

An icon, honestly. I haven’t been in years, but Lavaca Street is a true Austin sports bar for true Austin sports fans. Their known for having Turf n’ Surf for their food options downtown, and endless beer on tap. Also has games, such as skee ball, at their locations! Usually pretty busy and mostly standing room though.

Home Teams: Baltimore Ravens specifically at the S Lamar location, but the other two you can seriously catch any game showing!

Deals: They have game day buckets available, plus specials that differ by location and day

Crown & Anchor Pub

Located in North Austin by UT Campus

If you’re an Austin local and ESPECIALLY if you went to UT, you know Crown and Anchor. It’s an absolute staple that most of us have somehow ended up at after a UT game just because we didn’t want the part to end. It’s got TONS of tables, solid food, pool tables, and most importantly for this post they have TELEVISIONS. It’s a classic Austin pub, that doubles as a sports bar. Usually a favorite if half the group is gonna watch the game and the other half wants to vibe.

Hey this is a great resource…! Would love to see an update focusing on sports bars with outdoor/open air seating. Here are some suggestions: Stinson’s (they can swing their garage doors open), Brass Tap, the Park (both locations), Lustre Pearl East
