Movie Night at Axelrad Beer Garden
One of the most unique places I have found in Houston is Axelrad. It’s a beer garden filled with comfy chairs and hammocks, a perfect way to hang around for an afternoon and talk.
Ever better, at night it hosts movie nights to amp up the fun of your Houston date night! Grab some beer and your special someone, curl up in a hammock, and enjoy the show. Check out their calendar here!
Video Game Night at Joystix
Got yourself a kid at heart? Make sure you check out Joystix for some delicious drinks and endless arcade games! The drinks are reasonably priced and the pinball games are aplenty. When your arms start hurting from all the button mashing, take a break and post up in the photo booth for some cute date night photos! Talk about a fun date night!
On Fridays, they host “Pacman Fridays” where you can play unlimited games for only $15. Yes, this is your childhood dream come true. Yes, this is where I will be dragging Denver, he would LIVE FOR IT.
Catch a Drive In Movie
Just under an hour outside Houston is Showboat Drive In Movie Theater, one of the last drive in movie theaters in Texas. They’re open every weekend, and you can watch two movies for less than what one movie will cost you at that IMAX down the street.
Check out their movie schedules and pick something perfect out for you and your favorite person. Don’t forget the candy and popcorn!

Houston Dairymaids Cheese Tasting
On Saturdays, the Houston Dairymaids hosts cheese tastings on weekends for cheese-lovers like me. Gouda and brie fans, this is your paradise. They provide you with plenty of crackers, breads, jams, and wines to pair your cheese with. Your stomaches and your hearts will be full.
No reservations are required, however prepare for the fact this place will be bustling on Saturdays. Also, it is nearly impossible to not buy one of the cheese you tried. They’re just that good.
Need Some Date Night Outfit Inspo?
Spend the Day at the Bayou
One of my favorite places to walk around and spend the day is Buffalo Bayou Park in Houston. Make sure you check out the Houston Police Department Memorial for its views and then walk over to the Visitor Center for another stunner. Such a great Houston date night on a sunny day!
Afterward, you can stop by the beautiful Dunlavy for a meal. One of the most romantic Houston restaurants, in my opinion!

Hit Up a Trivia Night Together
If you are up for the challenge and think you know your stuff, hunt down a Geeks Who Drink trivia night in Houston. You can view their locations calendar here, and pick out a date and a bar that works for you. It’s a great way to show your stuff, and hopefully, confirm that your date is just as nerdy as you are.
PSA, you may want to brush up on that knowledge. Or take it as an excuse to rewatch the entire Harry Potter series with your date. Guess which one I did? Spend date night proving your brilliance, I love it.
Houston Axe Throwing
Yes, you read that title correctly. Grab your date, and your axe, for this one. You two can head over to the Houston Axe for some evening axe throwing. I promise you your date will never forget this experience.
Roller Skating Night at Dairy Ashford
If you want something old school, then try going roller skating at Dairy Ashford. Get those inline skates on your feet and try your hardest not to fall down.
It’s cheap and absolutely unforgettable. Also, talk about romance since you’re going to spend the whole night leaning on each other!
Spend the Day at Galveston Beach
Looking to get out for the day? Drive down to Galveston and spend some time there! Spend some time walking around the Galveston Pier (a low-key version of the Santa Monica Pier) and then maybe try walking around Moody Gardens. If you’re up for some shopping, then head to Market Street and walk along their shops.
You can end your evening with some drinks on the rooftop of the Tremont House in Galveston or you can drive up to the Kemah Boardwalk for an even more beautiful Boardwalk experience for your sorta in Houston date night!
Explore a Local Brewery Together
Houston is home to some amazing craft breweries, and they’re a great place to hang out with someone and get to know them. Some of my favorites in Houston for date night:
St Arnolds Brewing Co
St Arnolds hosts tours every day but Sunday and tours include a souvenir glass. The brewery also serves lunch items such as salads, sandwiches, and smaller treats like pretzels for those of us perpetually hungry!
Karbach Brewing Co
It receives endless praise for its exception tours, offered every day of the week and showcasing a large variety of beers and brews. I personally love that they also offer delicious food with their beer, not just bar bites. Big things are to come from Karbach!
8th Wonder Brewery
A little more of the beer garden than a brewery, but always a good time! They have a giant outdoor space that is perfect for a sunny day, and tons of outdoor games to go with it. This is also home to the Presidents Heads if you haven’t seen those before.
Go Rock Climbing Together
If you two are outdoorsy and active, then try an afternoon going rock climbing at The Rock Gym in Houston! They have great rock climbing and bouldering options, and tons of space so you aren’t waiting to use the ropes. Perfect if you are both big athletes in Houston!
**PSA do not try this if you need to be able to feel your arms the next day, learned that the hard way**
Enjoy a Rockets Game Together
It’s a classic, but you can always snag tickets to a Houston Rockets game! This is perfect for your sports lovers, and this is exactly what I got Viktor for V-day last year. We had a blast watching the game and drinking our $12 beers.
If you’re dating a sports guy, this is definitely the best date to take your man on! Even better if you surprise him with tickets! Definitely going to be his favorite Houston date night idea!
Or…Just Go Try a New Restaurant Together!
Sometimes you just want a simple dinner date night, and there is nothing wrong with that! Here are some of my favorite romantic date night restaurants in Houston that you HAVE to try out!
North Italia ($$)
Delicious Italian restaurant and easy to get a table even without a reservation!
Emmaline($$$)
Cannot rave about how beautiful this place! Delicious food and a gorgeous atmosphere
Presidio($$)
Easy American eatery featuring yummy cocktails and southern comfort with a twist
Nobu($$$$)
Pricy as can be, but if you have a special occasion then this is definitely the spot to try
Theodore Rex ($$)
Modern, upscale, delicious, and an absolute must! That’s all I can say!
Hopefully, you got some good Houston date night from this list for the perfect romantic date with your boo! If you have some others you love, definitely comment and share below. We love new ideas!
Also, if you live in Austin or Dallas, check out their date night ideas too!
